Some 100 Harley-Davidson riders will be disturbing the desert peace on November 12,
to raise awareness and love for the lowest place on earth, and influence the Dead Sea's selection as one of the winners in the 7Wonders of Nature competition.
The 100-Biker Ride comes as a prelude for the main event, the "Love the Dead Sea" Bike
Weekend, which will be held in June 2011 at the Megilot Yam Hamelach Regional Council at
the northern end of the Dead Sea, summoning thousands of bikers and crowds from Israel
and around the world.
It has become a tradition in Israel and all over the rest of the world for bikers to come
together and contribute their time and energy in order to promote various social causes. Udi
Adam, a reserve IDF general and dedicated Harley-Davidson fan raised the idea of organizing
a ride that will awaken love for and awareness for the Dead Sea region, in Israel and around
the world.
“This is a warm-up ride that is taking place exactly one year before the end of the
competition in which the Dead Sea is participating,” says Udi Adam. “We mean to hold the
great Dead Sea ride, with over a thousand bikers from all the riding clubs in Israel, at the
beginning of June 2010, so that the thunder of our exhausts will be heard throughout
the Dead Sea area".
The Dead Sea is competing against 27 other sites of natural beauty around the world in the final of the 7Wonders of Nature competition.
Winning the competition and becoming one of the 7 Wonders of Nature will enable this unique region to receive the international recognition it deserves.
